CNSE Annual Outreach Report for 2008

Building on its recognition as a global leader in nanotechnology education, research and development, the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering (CNSE) is actively engaged in a host of innovative programs, events and activities designed to raise awareness of the power of nanotechnology to help address the most critical challenges facing society in the 21st century.

More than 25,000 individuals - including over 6,000 K-12 students - were involved in CNSE's outreach programming in 2008, including a wide variety of important stakeholders and partners: students, educators and parents; leaders in the technology, education, business, government and service sectors; and, community members from the Capital Region and across New York State. Given the growing interest and enthusiastic response, CNSE is committed to expanding that audience in 2009.

Educational Outreach

CNSE is a vital resource for educating young people about the numerous opportunities driven by nanotechnology, conducting multi-level programs that encourage science awareness in grades K-12 to ensure a highly skilled future workforce in science and technology for New York State and the United States.

Community Outreach

CNSE presents numerous special events, programs, lectures and tours, and engages in multiple partnerships designed to cultivate meaningful connections with members of the community, region and state that encourage nanotechnology awareness and foster an understanding of the educational and economic impact being driven by the NanoCollege.
