A scientist from GE Global Research in Niskayuna who led a team that made a groundbreaking discovery in nanotechnology is joining the faculty of the College of Nanoscale Science & Engineering at the University at Albany.
Ji Ung Lee will be an associate professor of nanoengineering at the nanocollege.
He is best known for leading a team that developed a carbon nanotube diode in 2005 that is considered a groundbreaking achievement, outperforming those previously developed. Diodes are used in many electronic devices, and the field is expected to lead to a range of new products.
Nanotechnology refers to materials on the molecular scale.
