Clean Energy Investment Presentations So much of the renewable energy field is spurred by innovative ideas-many of which take years to get off the ground for lack of funding. The Clean Energy Investment Presentations allowed 11 small and start-up businesses the opportunity to present their business plan to venture capitalists on July 9. The competitively selected entrepreneurs received feedback from a panel of investors and financial industry experts. The extent of this impact is far-reaching: entrepreneurs were able to refine their business plans with real-world advice, and the investment community got a first hand look at what is developing in the energy technology industry.
Organized in partnership with the New York State Energy Research Development Authority (NYSERDA) and the Capital Region's Center for Economic Growth, the Investment Presentations focused on all types of clean energy technologies from businesses based in the Northeast.
Immediately following the close of the presentations was a networking reception, where participating venture capitalists and financiers spoke with companies who interested them one-on-one. At the reception, three companies were chosen to receive Certificates of Achievement to mark their outstanding performance in the presentations. The companies were chosen by the Venture Capitalist Panel and the awards were presented by Pradeep Haldar and Emily Riley. The three companies chosen were:
Each company will receive mentoring and assistance from the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering to participate in the National Renewable Energy Laboratory's annual Industry Growth Forum, this year held in Denver, Colorado.
