Mr. Babcock is also Chairman and CEO of Advanced Materials Partners, Inc., AMP Corporate Strategy & DevelopmentSM, which he founded in 1987 to manage comprehensive, corporate strategy and development programs for major manufacturing companies. Programs have included acquisitions, venture investments, licensing, contract manufacturing, co-development, R&D contracts, and marketing & distribution rights, as well as open innovation, ideation, and new product development and testing. Venture investments, licensing and co-development have included advanced LED lighting and wide range of environmentally progressive chemistries, materials, processes and products.

In 1985, Mr. Babcock began investing directly in ventures and worked with start-ups in areas ranging from composites, construction materials, data entry, medical devices, microparticle materials, specialty metals to robotics. Prior to venture investing, Mr. Babcock founded and built a patented coatings and surface treatment company from the R&D stage to seven plants around the US, while licensing the technology and trademarks in foreign countries. Mr. Babcock is on the Advisory Board of the Lawrence C. Field Entrepreneurship Center at Baruch College in New York City and is on the Board of Trustees of The Chemists’ Club located in New York City, and has served on the Board of Directors of start-up ventures and family businesses in a wide range of industries.

Mr. Babcock’s education includes a MBA from Emory University, extensive biomedical engineering from Vanderbilt University, and a BA in Chemistry from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.

He is also an adjunct faculty member at the Zicklin School of Business, Baruch College, the largest business school in the U.S, focusing on boards, governance, and leadership for entrepreneurial and family firms, and is a National Association of Corporate Directors - Governance Fellow.
