Overview 
New Energy New York and the Energy & Environmental Technology Applications Center (E2TAC) at the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering (CNSE), in partnership with the New York Academy of Sciences hosted the Sixth Annual New Energy Symposium August 1, 2011.  The event was held at the New York Academy of Science's premier office space at the World Trade Center in New York City, NY.

Keynote speakers included:

• Robert E. Curry, Jr., Commissioner of the NYS Public Service Commission
• Dr. Karina Edmonds, Technology Transfer Coordinator, U.S. Department of Energy
• Dr. Pradeep Haldar, Vice President of Clean Energy Programs at CNSE and Director of E2TAC 
• Dan Zaweski, Assistant Vice President, Long Island Power Authority

Clean Energy Investment Presentations
The 2011 NES featured the Clean Energy Investment Presentations, where the hottest emerging cleantech start-ups competed for an opportunity to showcase their revolutionary technology to an audience of regional and national venture capitalists (VCs), private investors, corporate VCs, investment bankers & federal executives.  The top three presentations, selected by the VC panelists, received awards and $1,500 cash.  The Clean Energy Investment Presentations are held in collaboration with the National Renewable Energy Laboratory's Industry Growth Forum, a successful model at the national level.

The three finalists, in alphabetical order, were:

-Phase Change Energy Solutions Inc. (presented by Reyad Sawafta, Chief Science Officer)
-Rentricity Inc. (presented by Dan Connors, Chief Operating Office)
-Versatilis LLC (presented by George Powch, President and Chief Executive Officer)
