The College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering has had its share of
national coverage, from such news outlets as The New York Times and
CBS, which made a visit earlier this year.
Now, it’s Popular Mechanics' turn, in a story titled: "Look Inside Futuristic Nanotech Lab."
Writer
Michael Belfiore calls Alain Kaloyeros, the school’s CEO and the
rainmaker behind the $14 billion Albany NanoTech complex, “The mayor of
this city,” responsible for bringing together computer chip
manufacturers such as GlobalFoundries, IBM, Intel and Samsung.
Of
CNSE, Belfiore writes, it is "the only research center of its kind in
the world. All the major chip-makers have their own labs. But nowhere
else do they share those facilities with their competitors and students
working side by side on the same state-of-the-art equipment.”
