The Capital Region Regional Competition of the New York Business Plan
Competition will be held at the College of Nanoscale Science and
Engineering on Thursday, April 4, 2013. Student entrepreneurs from New
York’s Capital Region that meet the eligibility requirements below are
invited to submit applications for their idea or venture under one of
the following six categories:
- Biotechnology / Healthcare
- Energy / Sustainability
- Information Technology / Software
- Nanotechnology / Advanced Technology
- Products / Services
- Social Entrepreneurship / Non-Profit
The
top two teams in each of the six categories from the regional
semi-final competition will advance to the statewide final competition
at the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering on Friday, April 26,
2013. They will compete head-to-head against regional winners from the 9
other major regions of New York – Central New York, North Country,
Mohawk Valley, Finger Lakes, Western New York, Southern Tier,
Mid-Hudson, New York City, and Long Island.
The
presentation format for the regional semi-final and statewide final
competitions is the same. Each team will have 10 minutes to pitch, which
will be followed by 5 minutes of Q&A with the panel of judges.
Judges are advised to act as they would in a closed-door boardroom
investment presentation during the Q&A session.
All interested teams should complete the application, and submit it to Nicholas Querques at nquerques@albany.edu by 11:59 pm ET on Friday, March 15, 2013.
The
regional competition will be held in the NanoFab South Auditorium at
the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering, which is located at
255 Fuller Road, Albany, NY 12203.
