The College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering of the University at Albany capped off its 10-week Undergraduate Summer Internship Program with a public poster presentation session on Friday, August 10, 2007.
The session provided the interns an opportunity to gain presentation experience in a scientific, professional atmosphere while showcasing the focus and findings of their summer research. Poster presentations detailed research topics ranging from EUV optics, lithography and photoresists to the economic impact of alternative energy solutions.

Twenty-one undergraduate students from 14 academic institutions in the U.S., Canada and Russia – including 13 New York state residents – participated in CNSE's prestigious 2007 Summer Internship Program. The interns were once again an impressive group. Chosen from a highly competitive pool of applicants, the students carry an average GPA of 3.50 in the physical, chemical and biological sciences and engineering.

CNSE's Undergraduate Summer Internship program provides opportunities for hands-on research experience to qualified undergraduate students who wish to pursue careers in nanosciences, nanoengineering, and the nanotechnology industry. Applicants should have academic backgrounds in the physical, chemical, biological or computer sciences, mathematics, or engineering. Prior research experience is not required for consideration.
The program provides exposure to industrial experts through weekly seminars and public presentation of research results. Each intern will be involved with one or more CNSE/industrial partnered research programs. CNSE summer interns work closely with CNSE faculty, staff, post-doctoral researchers, and graduate students during the course of their internship.
The award of CNSE Summer Internships is competitively based and stipends range from $270-$345/week depending on academic achievement and experience. Expenses related to travel and lodging are the responsibility of each intern. Limited on-campus housing may be available at standard UAlbany summer rates. Members of traditionally underrepresented groups in science are strongly encouraged to apply.
