The College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering (CNSE) at the
University at Albany-SUNY is accepting applications for the 2010 Summer
Internship Program. The program provides opportunities for hands-on
research experience to qualified undergraduate students who wish to
pursue careers in nanosciences, nanoengineering, and the nanotechnology
industry. Applicants should have academic backgrounds in the physical,
chemical, biological or computer sciences, mathematics, engineering, or
economics. Prior research experience is not required for consideration.
The duration of the internship program
is 10 weeks beginning on Wednesday, June 2 through Wednesday, August
11, 2010. The program provides exposure to industrial experts through
weekly seminars and public presentation of research results. Each
intern will be involved with one or more CNSE/industrial partnered
research program. CNSE summer interns will work closely with CNSE
faculty, staff, post-doctoral researchers, and graduate students during
the course of their work.
The award of CNSE Summer Internships is competitively based and
stipends range from $290-$358/week depending on academic achievement
and experience. Expenses related to travel, lodging, and meals are the
responsibility of each intern. Limited on-campus housing may be
available at standard UAlbany summer rates. Members of traditionally
underrepresented groups in science are strongly encouraged to apply.
Complete applications should be submitted on-line. The letter of recommendation should be submitted to cnseinfo@uamail.albany.edu.
Review of applications will begin immediately and awardees will be
notified in April 2010. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
Example research areas include:
- Economic Impacts of Nanoscale Science and Engineering
- NanoEngineering in Energy & Environmental Technologies
- Nanobiology Engineering & Technology
