Contractor Training

Safety Orientation

  • Employees new to the facility and/or working in the cleanroom are required to attend New Hire Orientation. This orientation is conducted every Monday at 2pm.
  • Contract employees/vendors/ contractors who will be working temporarily on a specific short term project must review the Safety Orientation Presentation and complete the questionnaire in the Safety Orientation Workbook and forward to EHS per the instructions in the workbook.   • This electronic training presentation was not put together to replace the normally scheduled Monday training class but is being made available to those who are required to attend the orientation but due to scheduling conflicts and time restraints cannot attend.
  • Such personnel are permitted to review this electronic course only if the meet the following criteria:
    • They have received prior Hazard Communication Training from their employer.
    • They are not full time employees assigned to the CNSE site.
  • If you do not meet all of the above requirements they must attend the next live session.
  • Classes are held every Monday from 2 - 4 p.m. in CESTM CR1.

Safety Orientation Booklet and Test
  • Once you have completed the presentation, please download the Safety Orientation Booklet and complete the test displayed on pages 15-17.
  • Once you have completed the test please detach or photocopy* the test pages, ask your Manager or Professor to approve your submission and drop off the completed test to Security in the NFE Rotunda or email to Marcus Benoit at mbenoit2@albany.edu
* Security in the NFE Rotunda has a photocopier available for you to use if you wish.

General Safety Training - (formerly Part I of Advanced Safety Training)

  • Who should complete: All new or existing employees, students, researchers and/or tenant employees who work in the CNSE cleanroom or laboratories
  • Retraining Frequency: Annual
  • Topics Covered: Emergency Procedures and Reporting, Signs and Warnings, Hazard Analysis, Radiation Safety, Cryogenic handling, Electrical Safety Awareness, Lockout Tag-out Awareness, Confined Space Entry Awareness.
  • Delivery Method: Review slide show presentation and complete the test. Send completed test to mbenoit2@albany.edu

Advanced Safety Training - (formerly Part II of Advanced Safety Training)

  • Who should attend: All new or existing employees, students, researchers and/or tenant employees who work, service or maintain tools or equipment and those that transport, ship, use or handle chemicals, gases or generate hazardous waste at CNSE.
  • Retraining Frequency: Annual
  • Topics Covered: Chemical Hazards, Chemical Types, Compressed Gas Cylinder Handling, Personal Protective Equipment, Waste Management, Chemical Spill Clean-up
  • Delivery Method: Classroom presentation
  • Registration: You must pre-register for this class since seating is limited. Send your name, e-mail address, company, job title and supervisors name to mbenoit2@albany.edu.
  • Arrive 20 minutes prior to the start time to facilitate the sign in process and bring a pen. If you do not plan to attend after you have registered, please notify mbenoit2@albany.edu to allow others to attend.
