Dr. Ernest Levine, Professor at the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering and long known for his IC Fabrication courses, teaches this one-of-a-kind Photovoltaic Technology course. This course covers photovoltaic technology starting at the atomic level and building up to an atomic understanding of the inner workings of a photovoltaic cell. Using a comprehensive, partially animated slide presentation, Professor Levine illustrates how the charged particles move. The presentation also covers details of the governing equation and how it came about. The course will also detail the important controlling factors in efficiency and manufacturing of both thin films and crystalline Si including, amorphous Si, CdTe and Cigs as well as GaAs and concentrated and tandem cells.
Not heavy with equations, Dr. Levine believes in qualitative understanding of material so you get the feel of it and can make judgments and improvements based on what you learned. First day is theory and Crystalline Silicon cell structure, and 2nd day is thin films theory and manufacturing details including tools and process flow. You will enjoy this course from start to finish and be able to use the powerpoint slides provided to help educate your fellow worker. Who should attend:
Engineers, managers, sales persons, vendors and executives. This course is ideal for those who are in or considering to enter the photovoltaic field and would like industry knowledge and/or the opportunity to network.
Tuition for the two-day course is $1,275, which includes a download of the powerpoint slides as well as a hardcover copy of the material.
To Register for the future courses, send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org with the class date in the subject line and include your company name, address and phone number in the email.

Here's what attendees from recent Photovoltaic Technology seminars have to say:
"The way the course was set up was very well thought out and I got a lot out of it. Professor Levine is a fascinating teacher and very easy to listen to. I really enjoyed the course and felt that the instructor covered a lot of hard stuff and made it look ‘relatively' easy."
- Alice Crayon, Benét Laboratories
"I was brand new to most of the PV theory. I love Professor Levine's approach in the course and the topic segways. It is a very effective method of teaching a diverse group."
- Brian Van Der Waal, Benét Laboratories
"The thing I like most about the course is that Professor Levine explained the physics of the solar cell in a very understandable way in the beginning, which makes the following parts very easy to comprehend. I have worked in the thin film PV area for three years in the past, and really appreciated what I have learned from the Photovoltaic Technology seminar. Thanks to Professor Levine for the great efforts he put in to make this course possible."
- Min Yuan, Varian, Inc.
"As a non technical person, I was thankful for the detailed explanation of terms. The way you covered the PN junction box, minority electrons, Electron/Hole pairs, forward bias, energy bands and etc. allowed a novice sales guy to understand the basics of the photovoltaic cell."
- Don Ransbugh, Tosoh Corporation
"This was one of the most educational workshops I have attended in my career, and I would recommend this class to any of my colleagues."
- Frank Parker, ICL Performance Products LP
