UAlbany NanoCollege Professor Kathleen Dunn honored with the Bread & Roses Award

Albany, NY - Dr. Kathleen Dunn, Assistant Professor of Nanoscience at the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering (CNSE), received the Bread & Roses Award from the University at Albany (UAlbany) Council of Women’s Groups on May 18 in recognition of her contributions to enhancing gender equity at UAlbany.

Dr. Dunn’s leadership in this area is evidenced by her role as faculty adviser to a nascent student chapter of the Society of Women Engineers at CNSE; her efforts resulting

in the launch of a peer-mentoring group for female assistant professors across the UAlbany campus to address issues specific to young women in academia; and her involvement in CNSE’s numerous outreach programs to encourage female interest in science, technology, engineering and math.

The University at Albany Council of Women’s Groups annually presents the Bread and Roses Award to individuals and groups who promote gender equity on campus.
