Students, faculty and staff from the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering (CNSE) of the University at Albany celebrated Earth Day on April 22 by spearheading a clean-up and beautification project at the Albany Pine Bush Preserve.
The effort, conducted in partnership with the Albany Pine Bush Preserve Commission, demonstrated CNSE’s strong commitment to the environment and the community. The Commission provided trash bags, gloves, rakes and shovels to CNSE representatives, who volunteered their time to clean up litter and debris.
The beautification project at the Albany Pine Bush Preserve – a rare ecosystem that is one of only 20 inland Pine Barrens left in the world – also builds on the important and innovative work CNSE is doing to advance clean energy and environmentally friendly technologies.
