When Alain Kaloyeros came to the University at Albany in 1988, he worked out of a lab tucked in a basement next to a room contaminated by radiation.
Today, the physics professor oversees a nanotechnology research complex that has attracted $12 billion in federal, state and private investments. The bulk of that money came from the world’s biggest computer-chip corporations that bought into Kaloyeros’s collaborative research model and established a presence here. Full article
