Research Associate for NanoHealth Initiatives
   Employment is with the Research Foundation of SUNY, a private, nonprofit, educational corporation that administers sponsored program activity for the University at Albany.

Description of Duties:
The Research Associate for NanoHealth Initiatives duties will include, but are not limited to: assisting with the design, development and growth of CNSE NanoHealth initiatives which include the following responsibilities: exploring funding opportunities and assisting in writing grants for private, state and federal support; assist in the research, writing and development of an epidemiologic study to assess occupational health and safety of CNSE workers; assist in the research, writing and development of a study investigating the environmental implications of nanotechnologies; design, develop, and initiate NanoVitality, CNSE Worksite Wellness Program; engage in public outreach, communication, and advocacy of NanoHealth mission, vision, and core values on behalf of CNSE including guest lectures and speaking engagements at the School of Public Health, Department of Health, and within new nano-taught courses; assist in informatics and technical aspects of NanoSafety Database; development of NanoMedicine academic programs and initiatives; assist in recruitment and retention of industrial partners for the customized safety planning program; participate in and develop regional, national, and international workshops, meetings, symposiums, and institutes germane to nanotechnology, public health, and the life sciences; support existing and developing working groups/partnerships; assist with development of educational program and research partnerships in nanomedicine; mentor interns and students working on NanoHealth initiatives. 

Minimum Qualifications:
Masters Degree in Public Health or related field from a college or university accredited by the US Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization OR a maximum of three credits away from completion of Masters degree; AND one year of experience in public health or related field; outstanding written and oral communication skills; experience working with culturally diverse populations; demonstrated networking skills; experience with reading, searching, and assessing scientific literature; general aptitude for biology and natural sciences; outstanding academic record; demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; strong organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to work in a team setting; experience with program monitoring and evaluation; experience with survey design and administration; experience in research design/statistics.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with grant writing and submission; Two to three years of professional work experience; Working knowledge of nanotechnology; experience organizing/planning conferences/seminars/meetings; demonstrated experience in developing collaborative relationships; ability to assess and communicated the ethical and societal implications of nanotechnology; experience with public health risk communications
