The University at Albany held its Graduate Commencement ceremony on May 20, 2006. After the ceremony, the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering held a reception to celebrate the achievements of its two 2006 graduates.
Graduating from the College were Mr. Jie Zhu, Ph.D. (advised by Professor Mengbing Huang) and Mr. Jaap Verheggen, M.S. (advised by Professor James Castracane).
Jaap Verheggen's thesis was entitled “Optimization of the Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS) Diffraction Grating.”
Jie Zhu’s dissertation was entitled “Ion Beam Processing and Characterization of Advanced Optical Materials.”
Faculty, staff and students gathered in the NanoFab South rotunda to congratulate the two graduates and enjoy refreshments.
